A special birthday: hot springs, good food and culture.
Located just a few kilometers away from the medieval charm of Siena and not far from Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance full of amazing cultural treasures, Adler Thermae is the weekend break that recharges you for a long time. I spent my birthday weekend there with my whole family. Some truly lovely days: the beautiful resort is nestled in the sweet Tuscan countryside, which streams in from the large windows and enfolds you in an embrace in the outdoor pool area.
A few days of pampering and relaxation, enjoying the hotel’s natural hot springs– a complete system including curative thermal baths in the travertine rock cave, several kinds of regenerating saunas and uplifting aromas in the steam rooms; specific facial and body treatments at the top-level Spa; and last but not least, some outdoor exercise or in the fitness area and unforgettable yoga sessions early in the morning.
The dishes prepared by chef Antonio Vaccaro with top-quality ingredients and the excellent local wine (the resort is just steps away from Montalcino, the land of Brunello wine!) crowned our holiday.
We spent an afternoon exploring the Val d’Orcia, a UNESCO World Heritage site, including a stop in Pienza to taste the famous Pecorino cheese and a gourmet dinner at Arnolfo by chef Gaetano Trovato, to take advantage of the resort’s wonderful location in the heart of Tuscany’s most authentic countryside.
